FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Alabama Department of Transportation has announced plans to close lanes of Interstate 65 throughout Shelby County starting Sunday, April 19 due to guardrail repairs.
The closures will take place at various locations between the Chilton County line and the Jefferson County line, affecting segments of the outside (right) lanes of both northbound and southbound traffic, at different time intervals between 7 p.m. Sunday, April 19 and 5 a.m. Monday, April 20, according to a press release.
All travel lanes will be re-opened to traffic by 5 a.m. each morning.
The guardrail repairs will continue following this procedure for five consecutive nights, weather permitting, through Thursday night.
Motorists can expect delays during these operations. Motorists are also requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
ALDOT thanked motorists for their patience during the scheduled maintenance operation to improve area roadways.
