SafeHouse of Shelby County is still working—it just looks a bit different.

Self-quarantines and social distancing are important tactics in safeguarding an individual’s health during the COVID-19 crisis. However, these conditions can lead to an increase in domestic violence as many victims may be trapped in the home with their abuser, according to information released by SafeHouse.

SafeHouse is taking necessary precautions to keep both clients and staff safe and healthy while continuing to provide services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

SafeHouse is only a phone call away to discuss safety concerns and/or provide emergency shelter.

Trained Advocates are available 24/7/365 to create individualized safety plans and to discuss the available resources.

SafeHouse’s administrative and community office is closed to the public, but the organization is still providing counseling, case management and legal advocacy services through telecommunications such as email and phone calls.
