Harpersville closes facilities, suspends activities

HARPERSVILLE – With the threat of the spread of COVID-19, commonly referred to as the coronavirus, the town of Harpersville is taking precautionary action to ensure the health and safety of both residents and staff.
Under the advisement of federal, state and county agencies, the town of Harpersville will close the following facilities to the public and suspend all activities at these locations effective Tuesday, March 17, until Thursday, April 16:
- Harpersville Community Center
- Harpersville Senior Center
- Harpersville Public Library
- Harpersville Municipal Park
The Harpersville Municipal Court docket scheduled for March 26 and April 9 have been postponed.
Contact (205) 672-9961 Extension 3 to schedule a new court date. The Harpersville Municipal Court Office will continue to accept payments.
The library will offer a curbside service, where customers who want to check out or return a book can call ahead of time and a representative will meet them outside.
The Harpersville Senior Center will continue to provide homebound meals.
Town Hall and the Harpersville Water Board will remain open for regular business during normal business hours. If possible, residents are asked to conduct business via phone calls, email or U.S. Mail.
Town leadership will continue to monitor the situation and update the status of all town facilities as more information becomes available.
