CALERA – The Fair Housing Agency of Alabama is sponsoring the Financial Literacy and Empowerment Symposium to help area residents increase and improve their financial options.
The event, which is in partnership with the Allstate Foundation, is set for Tuesday Jan. 21, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Calera Housing Authority located at 1645 21st Avenue.
Enrique Lang, executive director of the Fair Housing Agency of Alabama, said those who attend will learn how to improve their credit scores themselves instead of paying repair companies to do it for them.
The event will provide the information, resources and technologies that will help improve the financial and economic viability of individuals and families by enabling attendees to improve their credit and increase personal assets and financial options through effective fiscal management behaviors. Information will also be provided on home buying and new renter/tenant-landlord requirements.
This symposium is presented in alliance with BBVA Compass, WalMart Stores, Wells Fargo Foundation, BB&T and Regions Bank. This event is free to the public. For further information contact Jennifer McCane at (251) 660-7733.
