PELHAM — The community is invited to participate in a Community Partner Training event hosted by Central Alabama Wellness and Compact 2020 on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Attendees will learn about various services offered by the two organizations at the meeting, which will take place at the Shelby County Services Building, 1115 County Services Drive in Pelham, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lunch will be provided.
“Central Alabama Wellness is our new name from Chilton Shelby Mental Health,” said Prevention Director Zina Cartwell of Central Alabama Wellness (CAW). “This is a great way to connect people with our services. It’s also an important way for them to know how to access those services as well.”
CAW will provide community partners with information about children, adolescents, adults, substance misuse and other community services.
Compact 2020, a local group aimed at preventing substance abuse and addiction among youth and young adults, is a specialized partner with CAW. They operate several coalition centers throughout Shelby County. The project is directed by the Shelby County District Attorney, the County Manager and the Shelby County Sheriff.
Cartwell also hinted at upcoming special events slated for this spring, such as community resource fairs and a family fun day called “Be Well Shelby.” The specific dates, times and locations for these events will be announced later.
She emphasized that the public is invited to the Jan. 15 event.
“This is open to our prevention team members and any members of the community,” Cartwell said.
