MAYLENE – Community Baptist Church is preparing to host its annual fall festival on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 5-8 p.m.

Truck-a-palooza will showcase various types of vehicles and allow kids to get an up-close look at them. Vehicles such as monster trucks and garbage trucks, as well as those used for off-roading and farming will be on display. Vehicles used by first responders such as police cars, fire trucks and SWAT cars will also be included.

Event coordinator and children’s minister Mattea Pavlick said the event serves as a chance for kids to see these vehicles up close and outside of an emergency situation.

“This also serves as a bridge between law enforcement and the community,” Pavlick said.

The event will also include free food, inflatables, a cake walk and carnival games. Halloween costumes are welcomed but not required. The children will also have a chance to go trick-or-treating at the vehicles.

For the past 15 years, the church has hosted a fall festival with a different theme each year. But last year’s festival was so popular it’s coming back for an encore.

“This is our second year hosting Truck-a-palooza,” Pavlick said. “Last year it was such a huge success with about 900 visitors, and we had a lot of requests to do it again.”

Limited parking is available to at the church, which is located at 8254 Highway 17. Creek View Elementary School will be used for overflow parking. A shuttle, which will run from 4:15-9 p.m., will transport guests to and from the school and church.
