HARPERSVILLE – With the fall season underway, Old Baker Farm in Harpersville will host family-friendly events for all ages.

Harvest hours at the farm began Sept. 28 and will continue each weekend until the end of October.

There will be several events and attractions, as well as the popular pumpkin patch for anyone wanting to select a pumpkin from the patch to take home.

“We have been fielding a lot of questions about the pumpkins this year due to the unusually hot temperatures,” said Leah Harry with Old Baker Farm. “We were nervous about the pumpkins earlier in the summer, but the pumpkins are fine.”

Harry said the kickoff weekend at the patch was much warmer than previous years, and many customers braved the high heat to select a pumpkin.

“People were definitely leaving with sweat rolling down their faces, but everyone still had a great time,” Harry said. “My dad actually got his irrigation out and cooled everyone off.”

Upcoming events at the farm include Cowboy Day which will be held Oct. 12 and 13.

Visitors are asked to wear Western attire, and the event will feature shootouts, Western music, hay wagon rides, a hay mountain and more.

Admission is $10 per person with children under the age of 2 being free.

A new event to the farm this year is “Not So Scary Barn Party,” which will be held on Oct. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m.

“We thought it would be a fun event for families to come to at night,” Harry said. “There is not much available for families that doesn’t involve something scary like a haunted house or something.”

There will be the chance for families to pick a small pumpkin, decorate the pumpkin, hay rides at night, a monster mash, dancing and a costume contest.

Admission to the event is separate from the regular admission prior to 6 p.m.

Harry said if individuals purchase a regular admission prior to 6 p.m. they will be offered a discounted rate to the “Not So Scary Barn Party;” otherwise, tickets to the event are $10 per person 2 years and older.

In the event of rain, the party will be held Oct. 20 from 6- 9 p.m.

The farm accepts cash or checks at the gate.
