COLUMBIANA – Columbiana’s popular Monster Walk community trick-or-treat event on Main Street will kick off at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 with the second-annual Witches Ride.
The Witches Ride is described as a “fun, spirited bicycle riding event” in which participants will cruise through the downtown district before returning to the starting point on Main Street for the Monster Walk festivities.
Monster Walk is free for families to attend, but the Witches Ride is $25 per participant, and proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit SafeHouse of Shelby County.
Check-in for the Witches Ride will start at 3:30 p.m., and lineup will be at 4 p.m.
Awards will be given for Best Decorated Bike, Best Witch’s Costume, Largest Squad/Team and People’s Choice.
Those who attend Monster Walk may wear their Halloween costumes.
Merchants and organizations will be stationed along Main Street to pass out treats.
Cultivate Church will be giving out hot dogs and water again this year, Columbiana Main Street Director Brenda Sands said.
Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for pedestrian safety during the event, which ends at 6 p.m.
“The best thing, for us, is that it’s safe,” Sands said of the event.
