HELENA – An opportunity to learn the game of basketball involving fundamentals and other skills will soon be available to girls of various age groups as Helena High School is set to host a mini-camp series this fall.

For the second consecutive year, Helena High School head girls’ basketball coach Alan Skinner will host a girls’ basketball mini-camp series beginning on Sunday, Sept. 8, as there will be two new sessions available this year.

The camp is open to girls in grades 1-6 where the focus of the mini-camp series is to help increase engagement and interest in the game of basketball for young ladies in the community. It will accomplish this through age appropriate competition and skill development.

This fall, the mini-camp series offers two sessions to choose from with the first being Beginning Basketball and the other being the Skills Academy.

The Beginning Basketball camp is open to first, second and third graders who want to learn the basics of the game and will take place from 2-3 p.m.

The Skills Academy is open to fourth, fifth and sixth graders who have previous basketball experience and want to improve their skills. It will take place from 3-4 p.m.

Other features of the mini-camps are as follows:

–Instruction from current high school and middle school coaches.

–Small camp to coach ratio.

–Camp shirt that will admit campers to all home Helena High School women’s basketball games free with a paid adult.

The cost is $10 per session as sessions will be available Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 22 and Sept. 29 from 2-4 p.m. The cost will be $30 if pre-registering for all four sessions.
