PELHAM – Since opening on July 23, Buck Creek Coffee House has received a warm welcome from the public, said Torre DeVito who operates the shop with his wife Karen DeVito.
“We’ve been picking up traffic every day,” Torre DeVito said. “Traffic has really picked up since school started back. There’s been a coffee house at this location before, so we retained most of those customers as well.”
The shop is located at 2953 Pelham Parkway, which used to house Kai’s Koffee.
DeVito said the most popular drink is the Bama Brulee, which is made with white chocolate and caramel and can be prepared cold or hot. Other menu items include frappes, smoothies and bakery items.
In the coming weeks, DeVito said the menu will include more food items such as chicken salad, paninis, crepes, bagels and more.
“Karen managed a coffee house in college and she’s always wanted to open a coffee house or a little book store,” DeVito said.
The DeVitos have a lot of experience when it comes to business ownership. Between the two of them, they’ve owned a travel agency and construction and web design companies.
“We’re learning new things every day about the coffee business,” he said. “Things are a lot different now than when my wife worked at a coffee shop. There are lots of different drinks to learn how to make.”
The coffee shop is open Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Fridays from 6:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The shop is closed on Sundays.
The shop will soon have live musical performances on Saturdays from 4-6 p.m. DeVito said he is busy trying to get a musician lined up for Aug. 24. For more information, go to BuckCreekCoffee.com.
