For radio personality and author Ace McKay, writing in a journal was a way to process life and heal from personal struggles. He never envisioned for his private thoughts would be transformed into a book called “Just Chill: Finding God’s Peace in Every Day Circumstances.”
“There’s a bit of vulnerability there since I wasn’t expecting to share it,” he said. “I was in a bucket of tears almost every day for a period of three weeks or so during the editing phase.”
McKay said bad relationships, divorce and rejection are a few of the things he’s struggled with in life.
“There’s a lot of life in those 116 pages,” he said. “The basis behind this book is to provide insight from my life lessons. If anything, it is an extension of my radio show where
I share my life with our listeners every day.”
He said he found the process of editing the book to be therapeutic for him and he hopes it has the same affect for others, and helps them find their inner peace.
“I felt led by the Lord to share my experiences,” he said. “A lot of people are bust trying to keep up with life’s expectations and then they find themselves trying to dig themselves out of a hole,” he said. “This book is an opportunity for me to tell the stories of things that happened in my life and the lessons I learned along the way.”
Although McKay was born in Tennessee, he was raised in Alabaster and graduated from Thompson High School. After graduating from the University of Montevallo, he began working in radio full-time. Two years ago, he returned home and has been co-hosting the morning radio show “Roxanne and Ace” on 93.7 FM WDJC.
“Just Chill” was published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is available now in book store and on Amazon.
