PELHAM – Certain visitors to Oak Mountain State Park have found a way to relax and have fun outside of a yoga studio by actually being on the water this summer, creating a nice change of scenery.

The reason for the change of scenery is because the park is offering several paddle board yoga classes for teacher training, as well as classes that anyone may attend.

The paddle board yoga classes meet at the marina off Terrace Drive inside the park as several single classes may be purchased between now and September.

During the week of June 17 however, the park offered something called paddle board yoga teacher training as individuals spent four days on the water perfecting their skills.

The 20-hour teacher training program June 19-22 was designed for yoga teachers and those enrolled in a 200-hour teacher training program. The training included daily paddle board yoga, meditation, how to teach paddle board yoga–from paddle board basics to intermediate poses on the paddle board. The training offered plenty of time on the water as well as on land as registered class members participated in the Yoga Alliance Continuing Education course.

Those wishing to participate in single paddle board yoga classes will have the following opportunities to do:

–July 13 from 9-10 a.m.

–July 27 from 9-10 a.m.

–Aug. 10 from 9-10 a.m.

–Aug. 24 from 9-10 a.m.

–Sept. 7 from 9-10 a.m.

–Sept. 22 from 9-10 a.m.

The cost of each class is $25 for those needing a board or $15 for those that provide their own board. The paddle board yoga classes are open to anyone who can swim and all skill levels.
