CALERA – A Calera woman was recently released from the Shelby County Jail after being charged with sexual misconduct.

In early May 2019, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received information of potential misconduct by a Shelby County Community Corrections employee. The investigation led to a warrant being issued for Brandy Lee Gentry, 32, of Calera.

Gentry has been charge with custodial sexual abuse.

The alleged crime occurred while she was an employee for Shelby County Community Corrections as a drug court case manager. According to court records, Gentry became sexually involved with a drug court participant.

On Saturday, May 25, Gentry surrendered to the Shelby County Jail and was released the same day on a $5,000 bond.

Custodial sexual abuse is a Class C felony punishable upon conviction with one to 10 years in prison and fines up to $15,000. Gentry’s case has been assigned to Judge Daniel A. Crowson Jr.
