COLUMBIANA ­– A two-vehicle wreck on Shelby County 47 on the morning of April 18 claimed the life of a Columbiana man.

Robert Fulkerson Jr., 64, died on the scene, and Paul Rohling, 71, of Shelby was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his serious injuries following the crash, which happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Shelby County 47 about one mile east of County Road 69, according to Alabama State Troopers Cpl. Steve Smith.

A portion of Shelby County 47 was closed for more than an hour as first responders worked the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers, assisted by the Shelby County Traffic Investigation Task Force, Smith said.
