HOOVER – Late offense propelled Thompson to a doubleheader sweep of Spain Park on Friday, March 22, 13-11 and 10-7.
In the first game, visiting Thompson scored nine runs in the final two innings, which allowed the Warriors to withstand a seven-run charge by the Jaguars in the bottom of the seventh inning and hold on for the win.
THS plated four runs in the top of the second inning to stake out an early lead, courtesy of run-scoring hits by Trey Puckett, Carson Hobbs and Breydon Edmondson.
The Jags scored two runs in the third inning on an RBI single by John Poist and a sacrifice fly by Lane Willis then tied the game in the fifth on a single by Poist and groundout by Adam Wygle.
