PCS approves 2019-2020 calendar

PELHAM – The Pelham Board of Education approved the district’s school calendar for the 2019-2020 academic year at a meeting on Monday, Feb. 25, after reviewing feedback on the proposed dates over the past couple of weeks.
Teachers will return to work from the summer break on Aug. 5 before students take to the classroom on Aug. 8.
Holidays during the 2019 fall semester will include Labor Day on Sept. 2, Columbus Day on Oct. 14, Veterans Day on Nov. 11 and Thanksgiving break from Nov. 26-29 before the first semester ends on Dec. 20. Teachers have a professional development day set for Nov. 25.
Christmas break will span from Dec. 23-Jan. 2, 2020. Teachers will return to work on Jan. 3, 2020 and students will be back Jan. 6, 2020.
Spring semester holidays will include Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 20, 2020, President’s Day on Feb.17, 2020, which will serve as a professional development day for teachers, and spring break from March 23-27.
Students will have a virtual learning day on Good Friday, April 10, 2020. Schools will be closed but students will be instructed to complete assignments at home. If needed, an inclement weather day is set for April 13, 2020, and Pelham High School’s graduation is set for May 21, 2020, which is the same day the second semester ends.
The first grading period will end Oct. 11, with grades sent home Oct 18, the second grading period will end Dec. 20, with grades sent home Jan. 10, 2020, the third grading period will end March 6, 2020, with grades sent home March 13, 2020, and the fourth grading period will end May 21, 2020, with report cards being given to students on the last day of school or mailed to homes.
