Helena police to unveil new Web site

A new Helena Police Department Web site will soon be up and running.
Police Sgt. Michael Johnson, who is developing the site, said he’s not sure exactly when helenapolice.com will be available to the public, in large part because he’s developing it on his own time.
The Web site will feature electronic forms, such as patrol requests or report of suspicious activities, so that citizens don’t have to go to the police station to get them.
Users will be able to submit some of the forms electronically; others will have to be printed off and taken to the police station.
The police station is meeting a need by offering the site, Johnson said.
“We just felt there was a need for modernized service,” he said.
While the Web site will allow Helena citizens a convenient way to get often-used forms, Johnson said citizens should still contact the police station by telephone for any other questions or concerns.
