The Shelby County Arts Council welcomes the newest pottery instructor John Pocopanni to the team this February.
Pocopanni will lead the newest daytime ceramic class, Intro to Wheel Throwing.
During this six-week course, students will learn the basics of wheel thrown ceramics and pottery including techniques for wedging clay, creating forms and glazing.
This class will give participants a chance to learn about pottery and challenge themselves with a new skill.
Pocopanni has spent the last few years perfecting his craft while earning a Masters of Art Education at the University of Montevallo.
Not only does he have a love for ceramics, but he also enjoys photography, new media and oil painting. Join Pocopanni on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for the Intro to Wheel Throwing ceramics class at the Shelby County Arts Council (104 Mildred St., Columbiana).
The cost is $145 (students are responsible for purchasing supplies).
