1 person dies, another injured in Alabaster house fire

ALABASTER – One person was killed and another person was injured following a house fire on Maylene Drive on the morning of Jan. 22, according to the Alabaster Police Department.
The AFD responded to the structure fire in the 60 block of Maylene Drive at 8:24 a.m., and found the house fully involved when they arrived.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters recovered two people from the home. One victim was pronounced dead, and another person was transported to the hospital for treatment, said AFD Executive Officer Rowdy Tidwell.
“It was a bad morning,” Tidwell said.
As of about 11:30 a.m., the AFD fire marshal and state fire marshal were still investigating the cause of the fire, and authorities had not released the identity of the victims.
