HELENA – The Helena City Council approved the appointments of two citizens to the Helena Beautification Board during its Monday, Jan. 14 council meeting.
Kim Edwards and Malinda Nichols were appointed upon a recommendation from the beautification board and will serve the remainder of the boards term in office.
“The term of office for board members runs concurrent with the council and we are delighted to have them join our team,” Beautification Board Chairman Chris VanCleave said.
Edwards holds a marketing degree, is a sculptor and artist who has a love of interior design as well as being a noted gardener in the community. Her hillside garden has won beautification awards and the accolades of all who have visited there.
Nichols is somewhat of a style maven in Birmingham having used her talents at Cottage Living, Southern Lady and Taste of the South magazines. She is also a crafter, baker, wife and mother.
“Making Helena Beautiful is a duty we all share and can take pride in,” VanCleave said. “The appointment of these two ladies will only serve to enhance an already stellar assembly of individuals who give of their time, talent and effort to enhance the quality of life for us all. With all that is happening in the world, the need to bring people together for a common purpose is so important. In doing so, we create a landscape that will not only help attract new business investment, but will help create a sense of harmony and community among those who call Helena home.”
The Helena Beautification Board is an appointed board of the Helena City Council. The board believes that people and places are profoundly connected and thriving communities are rooted in individual responsibility and action.
