HELENA – For the last two months, current Helena City Council members have been vetting dozens of applications for the vacant place two city council position and on Monday, Jan. 14, Brian Puckett was approved and sworn in to fill the role for the remaining term that lasts through 2020.

Puckett is a resident of Helena and active member of the community which includes being the vice chairman of the Helena Beautification Board, a Helena Intermediate PTO board member and more.

Puckett replaces Mike Jones, who resigned from the same position on Nov. 25, 2018 citing personal and work-related reasons. Puckett was unanimously approved by the current Helena City Council members.

Shelby County Probate Judge Allison Boyd conducted the swearing in of Puckett, who was surrounded by his two daughters inside the council chambers.

He said he was grateful for the council’s decision to appoint him and will continue to try and move the city of Helena forward.

“I’ve tried to stay involved in the community whether it be the beautification board or coming to the meetings or just being on the PTO for the intermediate school and being on the soccer board… I’ve always tried to stay involved with the community and this is just another way I can give back to the citizens,” Puckett said. “I’m most excited about being able to continue pushing the city forward. That’s what I’m looking most forward to.”

Puckett is also actively involved in civic and faith based initiatives and is currently serving a second term on the Riverchase Business Association Board of Directors, where his eye for design has help lead the Riverchase ARC. He has an MBA and works at Regions Bank.
