Helena boys fall to McAdory on the road

MCCALLA – The Helena boys basketball team hit the road on Thursday, Nov. 29 where they faced a tough task taking on the McAdory Yellow Jackets and despite keeping the game close in the first half, the Huskies eventually fell 66-53.
Helena got off to a fast start taking a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter as five different Huskies recorded points in the quarter led by Daunte Cave’s eight points.
After failing to reach double digits in the first quarter, McAdory found its groove offensively as the Yellow Jackets ripped off 27 second quarter points courtesy of hot shooting by Youngblood who had 11 points in the quarter. Youngblood finished the game with 23 points to lead all scorers.
The second quarter surge by McAdory gave the Yellow Jackets a 35-28 halftime lead.
In the second half, Helena had a tough time finding its way back in the game as McAdory continuously had an answer on the offensive end of the floor. Youngblood had eight second half points while McAdory’s Sewell recorded all eight of his points in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets pulled away for the 13-point win as Helena’s leaders on offense were Caden Pierce with 20 points and Cave with 15 points.
Both teams struggled from the free throw line as Helena was 11-of-22 and McAdory was 4-of-15.
