HELENA – With Halloween just a few weeks away, the Old Cahaba neighborhood in Helena is seeking individuals and teams to help participate in a neighborhood trunk or treat and barbecue cook off.

Both events are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27, as the barbecue cook off will begin at noon at the Old Cahaba Parkway pool. Individuals or teams will have a couple hours to show off their smoking and grilling skills until judging begins at 3:30 p.m.

Following the barbecue cook off, participants in the trunk or treat event will prepare to show off their best decorated vehicles beginning at 4 p.m.

The trunk or treat contest will also be held at the Old Cahaba Parkway pool as kids can start making rounds beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m.

A prize will be given to the best decorated vehicle.
