Locals looking to get rid of unused or unwanted prescription medication will have a chance to do so at several locations throughout the area in late October, as the county is participating in the national drug take-back day.
On Oct. 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., law enforcement and Compact 2020 personnel will man drive-through booths in the parking lot of area businesses and municipal buildings, giving locals a chance to drop off any un-needed prescription medication, no questions asked.
All medication collected during the event will be properly disposed of, and will cut down on a possible source of drug abuse in the community.
The following drop-off locations will be available during the take-back day:
-Greystone YMCA, 5414 U.S. 280 in Birmingham
-Hoover City Hall at 100 Municipal Lane
-Montevallo Drug at 3990 Alabama 25
-Pelham Police Department at 32 Philip Davis St.
-Target at 250 South Colonial Drive in Alabaster
-Winn Dixie at 150 Chelsea Corners Way in Chelsea
