MONTEVALLO – The Evangel Christian School Lightning produced plenty of offensive fireworks on Sept. 28 in a high-scoring battle against Success Unlimited Academy of Montgomery at the Evangel Sports Complex.

“Our guys played really hard. The team played really athletic and played well,” said Evangel Coach Tim Smith. “We had to play until the very last second and try to eat the clock up, because they started coming back on us.”

Evangel, playing 11-man football, racked up an enormous 474 total yards of offense in the 60-40 win to move to 4-3 on the season.

Evangel quarterback Tyler Henderson was responsible for the majority of the offense, as he completed 11-of-17 passing attempts for 269 yards.

Will Ferrell reeled in six catches for 136 yards and a touchdown, and Dawson Humphries caught three passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Ferrell led the Lightning rushing attack, carrying the ball nine times for 74 yards.

Evangel will host the Lighthouse Home School Warriors on Friday, Oct. 5, at the Evangel Sports Complex.
