Weather causes 2 games to be postponed to Saturday

The sky filled with ominous clouds around 7:30 tonight and the weather ensued with lightning delays all around the Birmingham-metro area and even postponed two games until Saturday morning. Both games will resume at 9 a.m., but one will be changing venues.

Briarwood 9, Chelsea 0 – 11:00 left in the 2nd quarter

A J.R. Tran-Reno screen pass to Luke Prewett for 59 yards and a Chelsea safety on a blocked punt was all of the action in the little game-time between the two on Friday night. They will resume on Saturday morning at 9, but will move the game to Briarwood to take advantage of the turf playing surface.

Helena 0, Hueytown 6 – 6:25 left in the 1st quarter

Helena fell behind 6-0 in the early going before a lightning delay halted play midway through the first quarter. They’ll still have the majority of the game to play when play is resumed tomorrow morning.
