PPMS principal named Learning for Life Award recipient

PELHAM – Pelham Park Middle School Principal Justin Hefner was recently recognized as a 2018 Learning for Life Award recipient by Samford University.
The award honors Samford graduates who have excelled in their career or made a significant impact in the lives of others. This year, the university added 14 school of education alumni to the list of Learning for Life recipients.
In June, Hefner completed the university’s doctorate program for educational leadership.
“The 2018 honorees exemplify leadership in the classroom, school administration, churches, mission organizations, nonprofits, businesses, volunteer organizations and more,” said Bonnie Rabe, Orlean Beeson School of Education interim dean. “They have enhanced their knowledge and developed the skills to reach out to others and lead by example. We are proud of the many ways that our graduates impact the world with their skills, talents and Christian values.”
Hefner said he felt very honored upon hearing that he was selected as one of the award recipients.
“It always feels great to be recognized for your work,” Hefner said. “Previous award winners are people that I hold in high regard within our profession, so to be included alongside them makes it that much more special.”
Hefner said he wanted to obtain a doctorate degree to make sure that his is doing all that he can to be the best leader that he can be.
“It only benefits me, and those around me, that much more,” he said. “It enhances my ability to lead a school.”
