SCSO offering free cyber security training for houses of worship

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Shelby Baptist Association, will be hosting free cyber security training for houses of worship on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. till noon.
The cyber security training will be held at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 5521 Double Oak Lane in Birmingham.
During the event, attendees will hear from two speakers including Reed Warner, a GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst and Incident Handler who will present how to secure and protect your church network. The second speaker will be Kristi Bush, LBSW and National Education Consultant who will present information on the dangers of social media.
Church staff and leadership, church security teams and children’s ministry personnel will greatly benefit from attending. Vendors who provide IT services to churches will also be on site to answer any specific questions or needs.
