Drug raid in Harpersville nets pot, cocaine, meth, more

HARPERSVILLE – More than 10 pounds of synthetic marijuana, 1.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, Suboxone and marijuana are in the hands of police after a raid in Harpersville on Aug. 8.

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, with the assistance of the Shelby County Tactical Response Unit served an arrest warrant in the 300 block of Bridle Trail in Harpersville, with the arrest and search warrants obtained after undercover operations resulted in the purchase of narcotics from the residence, according to a SCDETF press release.

The subsequent search of the residence revealed the illegal substances.

The offender, 30-year-old Desmond Corderro Bean of Harpersville, was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bean remains in the Shelby County Jail on a $1.241 million bond, according to the release.

Arrested with Bean were 23-year-old Antwaun Rashad Mann of Harpersville, 33-year-old Derry Karl Yowe of Harpersville and 26-year-old Steven Marcus Adams of Birmingham.

Mann was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and receiving stolen property.

Mann remains in the Shelby County Jail on a $612,000 bond.

Yowe also remains in the Shelby County Jail on the same charges as Mann with a $612,000 bond.

Adams has since bonded out of the Shelby County Jail on charges ranging from trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was $26,000.

“Our narcotics unit is grateful to the Tactical Response Unit for their professionalism and partnership in putting these alleged drug dealers behind bars,” SCDETF Commander Capt. Clay Hammac said. “Our narcotics investigators will continue to pursue and apprehend suspected drug dealers. However, we are asking our community to partner with us by sharing information with law enforcement.”
