HARPERSVILLE – Police are still seeking information about a Christian ministry in Harpersville that was burglarized the night of July 8.

A subject or subjects broke into God’s Outreach Center and stole cash and furniture, Harpersville Police Chief Jimmy Macon said.

The ministry is based out of two buildings off U.S. 280, and both buildings were broken into the night of the incident.

About $50 cash was taken from the first building, and furniture was taken from the second building.

The money and items would have been used to help people down on their luck, Macon said, as the center benefits either Harpersville residents or those who are passing through and need some help, such as a couple of nights in a hotel room or basic clothing or furniture.

Macon said police have a person of interest in the case but are still asking the public to relay any information they have about the incident.

The area around the ministry is patrolled frequently, Macon said, and this fact combined with the amount of disturbed items at the ministry leads police to believe there were multiple individuals involved.

“Eventually, we’ll catch them, but they have to answer to God for this one,” Macon said.
