ALABASTER – The Alabaster Police Department is encouraging residents to stay alert after they received a report of someone impersonating a city employee.

According to the APD, a resident was approached by a white man posing as an employee of the Alabaster Water Board in the area of Navajo Trail on Saturday, June 30. The man claimed to be conducting residential inspections for the Alabaster Water Board.

Lt. Grant Humphries said the APD believes the man was attempting to scam the resident. Ultimately, Humphries said the man did not receive any money from the resident and drove away.

“Right now, we’re still looking into it,” Humphries said.

The man was said to have been wearing normal clothing and was driving a white SUV with no markings. The APD stated that Alabaster Water Board employees wear uniforms and drive vehicles with markings that clearly designated.

“If anyone tries to represent themselves as a city worker, make sure they are before you let them in your home or give them any information,” Humphries said.

As of now, Humphries said this is the only report the APD has received about someone impersonating a city employee. Anyone who has experienced anything similar is encouraged to contact the APD immediately at 663-7401.
