CHELSEA – The city of Chelsea passed multiple resolutions in order to annex almost 86 acres of property during a regularly scheduled city council meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5.
The city council made a motion to suspend the rules to annex eight different properties that make up a total of 85.98 acres of land.
The following properties were annexed:
–A 6.01-acre property on Dorough Road submitted by Michael and Susie Lawley
–A 5.2-acre property, a 4.9-acre property and 26.61-acre property, all located on Dorough Road, submitted by Jessup Standifer
–Another property submitted by Jessup Standifer containing 21 acres and located on Red Maple Drive
–A 3.46-acre property submitted by Bert Seitz
–A property on Shelby County 440 containing 4.8 acres and submitted by Jason and Tanya Poe
–The 14-acre property containing K Springs Church of God and submitted by Ricky Ferguson
Picklesimer said the annexation of these properties would not have been possible without the work of city council member Scott Weygand.
“It was a culmination of a lot of hard work by councilman Weygand. I’m more interested in seeing how our population increased,” Picklesimer said.
Weygand said the majority of the property, with the exception of the one with K Springs Church of God, is residential.
