COLUMBIANA – A Harpersville man has been charged with 15 counts of possession of child pornography.

Rufus Elliot Curles, 60, who lists an address off Dusty Way in Harpersville, was arrested April 27 by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest warrant states that the felony offenses occurred from June 2017 through April, and that Curles allegedly possessed nude pictures of minors under the age of 17.

Curles is being held at the Shelby County Jail under a $15,000 bond for each county, for a total bond of $225,000.

The preliminary hearing in the case is set for 8:30 a.m. on May 17 with District Court Judge Daniel A. Crowson Jr. presiding.
