ALABASTER – Alabaster resident Barbara Paschal thanked members of the city’s police and fire departments, along with other members of the community, for quickly locating her son, who went missing about a week ago at a regularly scheduled city council meeting on Monday, March 26.
“They did a wonderful job,” Barbara Paschal said. “We don’t have a lot to worry about because they took such good care of us.”
According to Alabaster Mayor Marty Handlon, Barbara Paschal’s mentally-challenged adult son, William Paschal Jr., was reported missing after he was separated from family members as they were leaving a business at the Probst Promenade during the afternoon of March 20.
“Our police and firefighters looked all over the Promenade,” Handlon said.
During the council meeting, Barbara Paschal recalled how helpful the city’s first responders were in finding her son.
“All of y’all are my children now,” Barbara Paschal said to the police and firefighters present at the meeting.
William Paschal Jr. was found a few hours later, unharmed and walking along U.S. 31 in Alabaster.
“I’m still a little bit shaky, but it was awesome,” Barbara Paschal said.
