Evangel 16 – Success Unlimited 0, Evangel 11 – Success Unlimited 1 

The Evangel Lightning played two conference games on Tuesday, March 20, taking on Success Unlimited in a doubleheader and put together an impressive performance taking both games by a combined 27-1.

Evangel took game one of the doubleheader by a final of 16-0 scoring at five runs in both the first and second innings, then scoring four in the third and two more in the fourth.

Chase Jones and Matt Sides also combined for a dominant no-hitter effort on the mound. Jones got the start and struck out six, while walking one batter and Sides struck out six more in two innings of work to close the game out.

Brandon Hines had four RBIs in the game, while going 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored. Will Ferrell also had an incredible game going 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Ethan Johnson also had multiple RBIs with two, while five total players scored at least two runs.

In game two, the Lightnign gave up three hits and one run, but posted eight hits and 11 runs themselves.

The only multi-hit game came from Jay Underwood, who went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk and three runs scored as well as one RBI. Josh Lau and Tanner Parks each had two RBIs, while seven different players had a hit in the game.

Hines followed up his four-RBI game the game before with a strong effort on the mound. He got the win after allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out nine batters.

Evangel is now 12-3 overall this season and their depth continues to show itself as the Lightning keep winning.

Kingwood 15 – Restoration Academy 4 

After a busy but slow start to the season, Kingwood is finally starting to look like the team that made a solid run in the postseason last year.

With their 15-4 win against Restoration Academy on Tuesday, the Lions have now won four consecutive games by a combined 52-4 to improve to 8-16 on the season.

Kingwood put together eight runs in the first two innings and never looked back, eventually taking a 10-0 lead on Restoration before giving up four runs.

The Lions posted three more runs in the top of the fifth and two in the top of the seventh to close out the game with five unanswered runs.

Garrett Picklesimer ended the game 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored. Kenny Hollis was 3-for-3 with two run sscored and Seth Lovorn went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.

The player of the game, however, was Jayden Denard. He posted an unbelievable stat line of 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs. He was just ahead of Tucker Cochran, who went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs, three runs scored and two walks.

Cornerstone 12 – Northview 1

In the first inning, Cornerstone got its offense started with four runs to kick start the strong offensive performance.

Cornerstone scored six runs in the third inning as Jacob Foster, Tanner Falkner, Patrick Howell and Ben Perryman each drove in runs during the inning.

Falkner picked up the win on the mound for the Chargers . He went three innings and allowed zero runs on two hits, while striking out four.  Jessup Lodge threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Cornerstone ended the game with 12 hits as Perryman, Falkner, Howell, and Jake Blankenship all managed multiple hits.
