COLUMBIANA – Two local men were recently arrested on multiple drug related charges after they allegedly sold drugs from one suspect’s residence in Alabaster.

Kevin Shawn Hale, 44, who lists an address on Old Highway 31 in Alabaster, and Timothy Deon Kirkland, 40, who lists an address on Hilltop Drive in Alabaster, were both arrested by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Hale was charged with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Court documents allege that he sold cocaine at Kirkland’s residence on Oct. 27, and again on Nov. 9.

According to his arrest warrants, Kirkland allegedly agreed with Hale to unlawfully sell the drugs “and did an overt act to effect an object of the agreement” at his residence during both incidents. Kirlkand was charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance are both Class B felonies. According to the Code of Alabama, Hale and Kirkland could each spend up to 20 years if they are convicted.

As of Monday, Dec. 11, Hale and Kirkland were held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $20,000 each. Hale and Kirkland’s case was assigned to Shelby County District Court Judge Daniel A. Crowson Jr. Preliminary hearings for both suspects have not been scheduled.
