A wreck during the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 30, closed lanes of traffic on U.S. 280.

The wreck occurred at about 12:30 p.m. near the intersection with Alabama 119 and forced the closure of both eastbound lanes of U.S. 280 at the intersection, according to a news release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Motorists were encouraged to expect delays in the area and find an alternate route, if possible.
