GOP candidate forum for U.S. Senate seat set for Aug. 4

PELHAM – The Shelby County Republican Party is hosting a candidate forum on Friday, Aug. 4, featuring all nine of the Republican candidates asking for the public’s vote on Aug. 15.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Center at 500 Amphitheater Road, and it is free to the public.
The Republican candidates running in Alabama’s U.S. Senate special election are incumbent U.S. Sen. Luther Strange, James Beretta, Joseph Breault, Randy Brinson, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, Mary Maxwell, Roy Moore, Bryan Peeples and state Sen. Trip Pittman.
The Democratic candidates are Will Boyd, Vann Caldwell, Jason Fisher, Michael Hansen, Doug Jones, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Nana Tchienkou.
The special election primary vote will be Aug. 15. A runoff election is scheduled for Sept. 26 in case either party’s primary concludes without a candidate receiving more than 50 percent of the vote.
