PELHAM – The city of Pelham’s street repaving project will begin Tuesday, July 25, and continue into next week, weather permitting.
In April the Pelham City Council approved a $238,876 bid from Wiregrass Construction Company for street resurfacing.
Public Works Director Eddy Jowers said crews began patching roads in the Keeneland subdivision on July 25, and repaving will be completed Wednesday and Thursday, July 26-27.
Lee Street, from Shelby County 52 to Industrial Park Drive, will be repaved on Thursday and the repaving of Village Place in Parkside Village is scheduled to begin Monday, July 31.
Business Center Drive will be completed sometime during the week of July 31.
Crews will pave one lane at a time so there will always be one lane open.
“Of course all of this depends on the weather,” Jowers said. “If it rains one day the schedule might have to be pushed back a day or so.”
In other business, the council:
-Renewed a line of credit for the Commercial Development Authority
-Accepted a donation of cash and real property from Double Mountain LLC.
-Approved a special use permit for modifications by Verizon Wireless to the wireless tower located at 5050 Beabout Drive.
-Approved the appointment of Barbara Phelps to the city’s Beautification Board.
-Approved an ABC license for El Santuario LLC.
-Approved an ABC license for Aiden Lees Food Service LLC, operating under the trade name Golden Rule BBQ.
– Approved an agreement with Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood for architectural services related to the Pelham Civic Complex main arena renovation project.
-Conducted the first reading of Ordinance 324-05 for consideration to amend the applicable interest rate to be computed on the payment of delinquent taxes to the city of Pelham as required by the State of Alabama.
