PELHAM – Mayhem on the Mountain is returning to Oak Mountain State Park for the third year in August for two days nonstop fitness competitions.
The fitness competition will take place Aug. 19-20 beginning at 8 a.m. Competitors will meet at the basketball courts near Oak Mountain Lake.
Participants can compete in teams or individually – individuals will compete on Saturday while teams will compete on Sunday.
The cost is $125 for individuals and $420 for teams of four. The event will feature divisions for both men and women.
The event usually attracts hundreds of competitors from throughout the southeast. The event was founded Rich Peninno, owner of Pelham-based Forge Fitness Powered by Crossfit Shades.
During last year’s event, Peninno said he created the competition because he wanted to host an event that takes place outside of the gym. The competition included elements not commonly found in gyms, such as gymnastics and swimming.
Participants receive gift bags and winners receive cash prizes.
