MONTGOMERY–The Alabama Pharmacy Association awarded Patrick Devereux, Pharm.D., of Helena with the 2017 Excellence in Innovation Award on June 20.

The award was presented at the APA 136th Annual Convention held at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

“Patrick has built his practice on innovation and remains a leader and mentor for other pharmacies and pharmacists,” APA Executive Director Louise Jones said. “His work expands the profession and its essential role in patient care.”

Devereux is a 2005 graduate of Samford McWhorter School of Pharmacy. He currently serves as vice president of FMS Pharmacy in Bessemer where he has implemented new and innovative pharmacist services.

He is an active member of the National Community Pharmacists Association, Alabama Pharmacy Association, American Pharmacists Association and the Jefferson County Pharmaceutical Association where he is a past president. Honors include the Carl Wayne Shaddix New Practitioner Award, the 2011 “One to One” Award in patient counseling from APhA and the 2012 Samford University Young Alumnus of the Year Award.

The Excellence in Innovation Award is a national award coordinated by the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations, and is generously sponsored by Upsher-Smith Laboratories, Inc. to recognize and honor a qualified pharmacist who has demonstrated significant innovation in their respective practice, method or service directly or indirectly resulting in improved patient care and/or advancement of the profession of pharmacy.
