PELHAM – The Pelham YMCA hosted its Dive-In Movie Night on Friday, July 14, and attendees enjoyed the movie “How to Train Your Dragon” as they splashed in the swimming pool.
Attendees watched the movie while inside of the swimming pool. The movie played on a projector in front of the outside swimming pool.
Hoover resident Miranda Brantley said the July 14 event was the first time she and her children have attended the event.
“My kids go to summer camp at this YMCA and we saw the sign about movie night and decided to come,” she said. “We’ve been to something similar while we were visiting the beach so we thought it would be fun.”
Brantley said she was afraid Friday’s rain would cause the event to be canceled, but luckily the weather cleared up just in time.
“My kids are happy and the water feels good, so we would definitely come back to it again,” she said.
Alabaster resident Amanda Contorno, who attended with her two daughter and three of their friends, said the dive-in movie is a great way to spend an evening.
“We love it,” she said. “They get to play in the pool and watch a movie and then we go home and they’re tired and go to bed.”
Contorno said she and her kids are regulars at the pool.
“The staff here is excellent and always friendly,” she said. “We always have a good experience here.”
