ALABASTER – Aaron Law Firm is holding free legal clinics for veterans on every second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Alabaster City Hall.
Veterans who are in need of legal help have the opportunity to see an attorney at the legal clinics, which will address legal issues concerning foreclosures, divorces, custody and child support disputes, wrongful evictions, creditor issues, wrongfully garnished wages and financial assistance.
“A lot of veterans have legal issues that they can’t afford to have an attorney look at,” attorney John Aaron said. “We saw a need with veterans, and there was not a free vehicle for them to have that service.”
Aaron said his firm typically sees five to 10 cases from veterans, most of who have disabilities or physical or mental health issues due to their military service who are dealing with small legal matters.
“This is a service we see as necessary,” Aaron said.
Those who attend the legal clinics must be veterans of the United States Armed Forces and have an inability to afford an attorney due to income. All legal issues must be civil, not criminal, and cases cannot generate fees.
Aaron Law Firm is based out of Alabaster, and has been hosting legal clinics in several cities in Shelby County since January.
