Jeff State Community College desires to tempt the foodie sensibilities of local residents with an afternoon with renowned Chef Frank Stitt.
Stitt will share a favorite recipe during a class to be held April 25 at 10 a.m. at Jeff State’s Culinary and Hospitality Institute on the Shelby–Hoover Campus.
“In pretty much every one of our community classes you get your hands in the dough,” said Jeff State spokesman David Bobo. “What we really feel great about is that it provides an opportunity for the community to come into our state-of-the-art kitchens and learn from one of the best.”
Stitt and his restaurant Highlands Bar & Grill were recently named one of the top five finalists in the country for the prestigious James Beard Foundation award. The award recognizes the country’s most outstanding restaurants of 2009.
Chef Stitt is also the chef and owner of Bottega Restaurant and Café and Chez Fonfon in Birmingham.
Stitt plans to linger after the class to sign his latest book “Bottega Favorita” and meet class participants.
This will be Jeff State’s last community class of the season. Classes will begin again in the fall. Check Jeffstateonline.com/CHI/CommunityClasses for details. April 22 is the last day to register. To do so, call 856-7710 or visit the site above.
