ALABASTER- The Angel Warriors Foundation is hosting a soccer camp and a volleyball camp during the month of June for community members of all ages. According to AWF President Jamia Alexander-Williams, both camps will be open to people of all skill levels and abilities, including those with special needs.
“I have never seen another sports clinic that has included the special needs community,” Williams said. “ My goal is to make sure that the special needs community is included in everything we do.”
Registration for both camps is currently open, costs $30 and includes a T-shirt with the fee. Registration for the soccer camp will close on Friday, June 2. The volleyball camp’s registration is scheduled to close on Friday, June 23.
AWF will host both camps alongside Alabaster City Schools volleyball players and coaches. Both camps are set to take place from 6-8 p.m. in the Thompson Middle School gym. The soccer camp will take place from June 5-9, and the volleyball camp will take place from June 26-30.
Williams said AWF is also planning to host a football camp later in the summer.
So far, Williams said the community has been receptive to the camps, and she’s expecting a large amount of participation.
“I’m praying that we have a gym full of kids,” Williams said. “Everybody is excited about it, especially the special needs community. They want to be involved in things like this.”
Proceeds from the camps will benefit programs held by AWF. For more information about the AWF sports camps, visit their website at Angelwarriorsfoundation.org.
