MONTEVALLO- For the past three weeks, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has been searching for a missing Montevallo man.
John Adam Hyde, 39, was last seen by a family member on Thursday, May 4, and was reported missing that same day.
On Saturday, May 14, authorities found his vehicle at a location in the Pea Ridge area off Shelby County 10 known as “the Slab.”
Hyde is described as a white male who weighs 220 pounds and stands at 5 feet and 9 inches.
It is currently unknown if Hyde is in any danger.
On Thursday, May 25, Hyde’s family set up a GoFundMe page to cover expenses to hire a private investigator.
“The family is missing their son [and] brother, and would like to find him,” read the description posted by Charles Robbins, Hyde’s brother-in-law. “With God’s help, we will find John Hyde. May the Lord bless all that help with this funding.”
While authorities are currently investigating several leads, SCSO Community Outreach Officer Debbie Sumrall said they are still in need of the public’s help.
“There were probably people down there (at “the Slab”) when he was. If they were around the area in early May, or talked to him around that day, they can call us,” Sumrall said.
Authorities encouraged anyone with more information about Hyde’s whereabouts to contact Investigator Jessie Woodall at 670-6283 or leave an anonymous tip at Shelbyso.com.
