HELENA–There’s something unique about relaxing and enjoying a movie outside in the summertime as temperatures begin to cool down and the weather becomes pleasant as the sun goes down.
This summer, families and friends will have the opportunity to visit the Helena Amphitheater on two separate occasions for the Movies in the Park series.
The Movies in the Park series will be slightly different this year as opposed to past summers.
In the past, movies were shown at the Helena Amphitheater nearly every Friday night in the months of June and July but this year only two movies will be shown.
Adam Windsor, President of the Helena Business Association, said the HBA has taken over the Movies in the Park series again and planned to do things differently this summer by combining with Helena First Friday.
“We decided to combine Movies in the Park with Helena First Friday for several reasons,” Windsor said. “First Friday already attracts a lot of people and I think it will give people a reason to go down to the movie after First Friday.”
The first movie shown will be the fantasy-adventure Disney film “Moana” on Friday, June 2, around 8 p.m. or dusk.
The final movie of the season will be the 3D computer-animated musical comedy film “Sing” that will be shown on Friday, Aug. 4, around 8 p.m. or dusk.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring tailgate chairs and blankets to the Helena Amphitheater to enjoy the movies.
Both showings are free and open to the public and moviegoers will have an opportunity to purchase popcorn and drinks from the concession stand as well.
