PELHAM – The Pelham City Council made three appointments to the Commercial Development Authority at meeting on Monday, May 1.

Newcomer Amy Bradley was appointed to the board, and CDA board incumbents Lenny Glynn and Clay Alford were reappointed.

Bradley, Glynn and Alford were each appointed to four-year positions that expire in March 2021.

The council agreed that given Bradley’s profession as a Pelham realtor and a licensed general contractor, her experience would be valuable to the board.

“She has working knowledge of the construction world,” City Councilwoman Mildred Lanier said. “The types of businesses she’s involved with touch closely with the work the CDA does.”

Council president Rick Hayes said Elizabeth Roland and Michele Robertson,

the other two candidates who interviewed for a spot on the CDA board, were strong candidates and would be valuable assets to the city.

Whenever someone applies for a seat on a board but isn’t appointed, Hayes said the city keeps their resume on file just in case another position on a city board becomes available.

“We keep them on our list and circle back around and say, ‘Hey, will you consider this?’” he said. “We never want to lose somebody who is willing and able to help the city.”
