HELENA–Runners of all different types of abilities and ages are encouraged to sign up for the second annual Helena High School Mustache Run to benefit the HHS soccer programs.
The HHS Mustache Run will include an 8K, 5K, fun run/walk and a pet walk that is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at 8 a.m. at Helena High School.
The Mustache Run began in 2016 and more than 140 participants collectively raised $3,500 for the HHS soccer programs, and event organizers hope to have even more success this year.
In addition to the different runs, there will be a mustache contest broken down into best real and fake mustaches, vendor booths, door prizes and a silent auction.
“The goal of the event is to support the annual cost of uniforms, equipment, referee fees, field maintenance, team travel, tournament costs and clinics,” according to event information.
The program’s long-term goal is to relieve or significantly reduce the fee players and their families spend to participate, upgrade the practice field with amenities such as lights, fencing, seating and water stations, as well as create a reserve for replacing capital equipment like soccer goals.
Registration for the event is available online or the day of the race between 6:45-7:45 a.m.
The different runs available are as follows:
–The Handlebar Adult 8k run for $25
–The Handlebar Under 13 8k for $15
–The Plain Old Stache Adult 5K for $25
–The Plain Old Stache Under 13 5K for $15
–The Peach Fuzz Adult Fun Run/Walk for $20
–The Peach Fuzz Under 13 Fun Run/Walk for $10
–Baby Smooth 0-3 year olds for free
To add an official time to any version of a race will cost an extra $5 and any participant including a pet in the run will cost an extra $5.
The first 50 pets registered will receive a free Prairie Dog Elk Antler chew valued at $14.
