Children of all ages are invited to the Chelsea Kids’ Christmas Party, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chelsea Community Center. The event will take place shortly after the Chelsea Christmas Parade.
During the event, kids will be able to meet “Frozen” characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf and get their faces painted. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa Claus. The Chelsea Public Library will set up a station where kids can create Christmas ornaments.
Children will also receive free treats and goody bags.
Chelsea resident and mayor’s wife, Cindy Picklesimer, originally came up with the idea and passed it along to the Chelsea Business Alliance.
“This is just a good way for kids to start the holidays. Chelsea’s motto is, ‘It’s all about family,’ and we don’t want to forget the little ones during this time of the year,” Picklesimer said.
According to Picklesimer, the event also serves to get more Chelsea residents involved with the Chelsea Community Center.
“The community center is only a year old, so this is a good way to help residents get a look around. We want to show it off a little bit,” Picklesimer said.
The Chelsea Kids’ Christmas Party will be held by the city of Chelsea and the Chelsea Business Alliance. The event is sponsored by Greenvale Pediatrics, Dixie Tan Spa, Drayer Physical Therapy, Joseph Buff Farmer’s Agency, Therapy South, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Speary, Smith Chiropractic, PostNet and the Chelsea Whataburger.
